  • Safety & Lean Facilitator

    SUMMARY
    This position is responsible to oversee the safety and Lean initiatives within the organization. This role is responsible for coordination of safety efforts throughout the organization as well as leads improvement projects related to process and continuous improvement in the areas of quality, operations, productivity, and cost using Lean methodologies and tools.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    Safety Responsibilities:
    • Run the safety committee and drive action items.
    • Monitor the safety board.
    • Adhere to all OSHA annual training through monthly tool box talks or class room training.
    • Provide teammate safety orientation and hands on training as needed.
    • Schedule and monitor the facility’s sprinkler/fire extinguisher program. This is means of inspections, corrective actions, annual quoting etc.
    • Schedule and monitor first aid program for company. This is means of inspections, corrective actions, annual quoting etc.
    • Work with Engineering and Supervisors across all shifts on Management of Change, ensuring correct documentation with safety requirements (LOTO, SOP, etc).
    • Drive and report KPI’s on safety performance.
    • Be a key player in driving a safety culture in the entire organization.
    Lean Responsibilities:
    • Develop reports of overall Continuous Improvement activities including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated needs.
    • Provide event follow-up to monitor the progress of planned improvement implementation to assure timely action, appropriate management support, and achievement of expected benefits. Uses appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements.
    • Seek and evaluates process improvement and Lean information, materials, and methods to match specific organizational needs as outlined by management, and adapts them to use in the execution of process improvement events.
    • Present, facilitate and lead assigned process improvement events using methods of culture-appropriate team building, team energizing, data gathering and analysis, problem solving, project management and state of the art presentation and platform skills.

    • Lead process improvement projects by facilitating groups and teams, managing projects, monitoring for sustainability, presenting results and recommendations, and developing metrics and measurement tools to improve operating processes toward greater efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Lead, Maintain and drive SQDC boards
    • Be an overall resource and support/Lean mentor to all teammates.
    • Run bi-weekly continues improvement meetings in all departments.
    • Be able to Conduct analysis, interpret data and facilitate projects with minimal supervision. (Run Kaizen events etc.)
    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 5-10 years’ experience with LEAN and Safety in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to multi-task and be deadline oriented. Must be able to work with little or no supervision. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook required. Lean certification/belt desired.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read, interrupt and analyze, business documents, technical manuals, and governmental regulations in English. Ability to write professional e-mails, reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals and work or training instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from both individuals and groups inside or outside of the organization in a professional manner.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to read and interpret part drawings.

    REASONING ABILITY
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with arms, hands, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move greater than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and color vision.

    Trachte Building Systems, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of steel building products and has immediate needs for 3rd shift sheet metal production operators.  We are located in the Sun Prairie Business Park. The starting wage rate for these positions is $18.25 per hour, including shift differential.  Third shift hours are Sunday – Thursday, 11 PM – 7 AM.

    Our Sheet metal workers perform a wide variety of work assignments including the following:

    • Set up and operate a variety of metal forming equipment including Brake Presses, CNC turret punch press and roll formers and door assembly equipment.
    • Operate cranes and industrial power trucks to load and unload material to/from machines.
    • Perform mig/tig welding and assembly activities.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Minimum experience of one to three years prior Sheet Metal work is preferred. Must be able to operate an industrial power truck, work with various hand tools, fixtures and gauges, read and interpret work orders and part drawings. The starting pay rate is $18.00 per hour plus shift differential.  Second shift hours are 3:00pm to 11:00pm.  We also offer a comprehensive benefit package.

    Our Shipping & Receiving operators perform a variety of work assignments including the following:

    • Operate cranes and forklifts to load and unload material to/from trucks and other material handling activities such as picking and packing product for shipment.

    • Read and interpret picking tickets and general shipping documents.

    • Pulling, staging, and shipping of building orders consisting of building hardware, door hardware, trim, and structural components.

    • Staging and shipping of LTL orders.

    • Pulling and shipping small package shipments (FedEx & UPS).

    • Receiving material into the ERP system.

    Requirements:

    Description:

    Trachte Building Systems, Inc. a leading manufacturer of Self-Storage steel structure building products located in Sun Prairie Wisconsin has an immediate opportunity for a Production Supervisor supporting our second shift manufacturing operation. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position will lead the second shift production operation with broad accountabilities in the areas of safety, production, quality, continuous improvement and employee engagement.

    Other responsibilities include:
    •Maintains employee adherence to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
    •Maintain a safety first priority and hold team accountable to safety guidelines at all times.
    •Approve absence requests for departmental employees. Complete weekly timecards. Evaluate necessary staffing and assign individuals to meet production requirements.
    •Assess and evaluate cross training opportunities and develop an implementation plan.
    •Assist in trouble shooting problems on shop floor with production reporting, find root cause/corrective action.
    •Communicate and elevate repetitive problems and potential solutions to operations team.
    •Trouble-shoot problems and assist with corrective actions.
    •Hold team accountable for meeting production goals.

    Requirements:

    The candidate we seek will have an Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. We prefer candidates with a track record of improving operating performance, strong safety engagement, process/ metric driven, and a continuous improvement mindset.
